Terms & Conditions
1. Acceptance of Terms
By booking a ride with KiwiRides, you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use our services.
2. Service Description
KiwiRides provides taxi and ride services throughout North Canterbury, New Zealand, including but not limited to Rangiora, Kaiapoi, Woodend, Pegasus, Oxford, Amberley, and surrounding areas.
3. Bookings
- Bookings can be made through our website or by phone.
- All bookings are subject to vehicle availability.
- We recommend booking in advance, especially for airport transfers and peak times.
- Booking confirmation will be sent to the email address provided.
4. Fares and Payment
- Fares are calculated based on distance and may include additional charges for waiting time, tolls, or special requests.
- Quoted fares are estimates and may vary based on actual route taken and traffic conditions.
- Payment can be made by credit/debit card online or cash to the driver.
- All prices are in New Zealand Dollars (NZD) and include GST where applicable.
5. Cancellation Policy
- Cancellations made more than 2 hours before the scheduled pickup time will receive a full refund.
- Cancellations made less than 2 hours before pickup may incur a cancellation fee.
- No-shows will be charged the full fare amount.
- To cancel a booking, please contact us as soon as possible.
6. Passenger Responsibilities
- Passengers must be ready at the pickup location at the scheduled time.
- Passengers are responsible for ensuring they have all personal belongings when exiting the vehicle.
- Passengers must wear seatbelts at all times as required by New Zealand law.
- Passengers must not smoke, consume alcohol, or engage in illegal activities in the vehicle.
- Passengers are liable for any damage caused to the vehicle during their ride.
7. Child Restraints
Under New Zealand law, children under 7 must be in an approved child restraint. Please advise us at the time of booking if you require a child seat, and we will do our best to accommodate your needs.
8. Luggage
Standard luggage is included in the fare. Excessive luggage or oversized items may require a larger vehicle at additional cost. Please inform us at booking if you have special luggage requirements.
9. Waiting Time
A grace period of 5 minutes is allowed from the scheduled pickup time. Additional waiting time may be charged at our standard waiting rate.
10. Limitation of Liability
KiwiRides shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from the use of our services. Our liability is limited to the fare paid for the specific journey in question.
11. Force Majeure
KiwiRides shall not be liable for any failure to perform due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to severe weather, natural disasters, road closures, or government restrictions.
12. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. Continued use of our services after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
Discounts & Promotions
1. SuperGold Card Discount
- SuperGold cardholders are entitled to a 20% discount on the fare subtotal (before GST).
- You must provide a valid SuperGold card number at the time of booking.
- The SuperGold discount cannot be combined with coupon codes, business account discounts, or the return trip discount.
- SuperGold cardholders are eligible to earn loyalty reward points.
- KiwiRides reserves the right to verify SuperGold card details and to decline the discount if a valid card number is not provided.
2. Coupon Codes
- Coupon codes may be issued from time to time for promotional purposes or as part of our post-trip survey programme.
- Each coupon code has a set discount value or percentage and an expiry date.
- Coupons are single-use unless otherwise stated.
- Coupon discounts cannot be combined with SuperGold, business account, or return trip discounts.
- Expired or invalid coupon codes will not be accepted.
- KiwiRides reserves the right to withdraw or modify any coupon at any time without notice.
3. Business Account Discount
- Approved business customers receive a 10% rolling discount on all rides.
- Business accounts are set up by arrangement with KiwiRides and a unique business code is provided.
- The business discount cannot be combined with SuperGold, coupon, or return trip discounts.
- Bookings made with a business code are not eligible for loyalty reward points.
- Business accounts may be deactivated at the discretion of KiwiRides.
4. Return Trip Discount
- Customers booking a return trip may receive a discount on the return leg fare.
- The return trip discount percentage is set by KiwiRides and may change from time to time.
- The return trip discount only applies when no other discount (SuperGold, coupon, or business) is active on the booking.
5. Loyalty Reward Points
- Customers earn loyalty points on eligible bookings based on the fare paid.
- Accumulated points can be redeemed for a discount on future bookings.
- Points have no cash value and cannot be transferred to another person.
- Business account bookings are excluded from the loyalty programme.
- KiwiRides reserves the right to adjust point balances, modify earning rates, or discontinue the loyalty programme at any time.
- If a booking is cancelled, any loyalty points earned from that booking will be reversed.
6. Discount Stacking
Only one primary discount may be applied per booking. The discount priority is: SuperGold → Coupon → Business → Return Trip. Loyalty points may be redeemed in addition to one of these discounts, except on business account bookings. GST (15%) is always applied after all discounts.
7. General Conditions
- All discounts and promotions are offered at the sole discretion of KiwiRides.
- KiwiRides reserves the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any discount or promotion at any time without prior notice.
- Abuse or fraudulent use of discount codes or loyalty points may result in the cancellation of bookings and/or forfeiture of discount privileges.
Privacy Policy
1. Information We Collect
When you book a ride with KiwiRides, we collect the following information:
- Full name
- Email address
- Phone number
- Pickup and drop-off addresses
- Payment information (processed securely via Stripe)
- Any special requirements or messages you provide
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your personal information to:
- Process and fulfill your booking
- Communicate with you about your ride
- Send booking confirmations and reminders
- Process payments
- Improve our services
- Comply with legal obligations
3. Information Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share your information with:
- Our drivers, to fulfill your booking
- Payment processors (Stripe) to process transactions
- Law enforcement, if required by law
4. Data Security
We implement appropriate security measures to protect your personal information. Payment information is processed securely through Stripe and is not stored on our servers. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure.
5. Data Retention
We retain your booking information for a reasonable period to fulfill the purposes outlined in this policy, comply with legal obligations, and resolve disputes. You may request deletion of your data by contacting us.
6. Your Rights
Under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020, you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate information
- Request deletion of your information
- Withdraw consent for marketing communications
7. Cookies
Our website may use cookies to enhance your browsing experience. Cookies are small files stored on your device that help us remember your preferences and improve our services.
